Albacore Tuna fishing season starts from mid-May and lasts at the end July. Sometimes there is fish until the end of August.
Albacore Tuna is found in big numbers. On a good day you come home with big catches! A normal catch is 10 and very often 20 30. Needless to say, that at times we come home without any fish.
We leave the harbor at 04:30 am and return just before 09:00 am Weather permitting, we are out fishing almost every day. Every time we go out, we do our best to catch and get as many as possible. We keep watching for Tuna to surface so we can pursuit it and eventually catch it. When we catch everything happens very quickly at times. On a good day we have simultaneous catching of three to five fishes. The fishing grounds are the same throughout the years and Tuna shows up the more or less the time.
Fishing Techniques
We use trolling and start trolling at three NM in June and a little bit more in July. We apply a spread of six rods with rigged artificial lures.
Rods, Reels and Lures
We use Shimano Tiagra Rods 50lbs and 80 lbs which are our standard rods which are fitted with two speed Everol and fin Nor Reels. Lures are critical to fishing and using the right ones is very important.
